Field Arts Bootcamps

Join me for one (or more!) of my live-in-person retreats for field artists and nature journalers: four to seven full days of pure nature exploration and journaling in an immersive backcountry experience.

Imagine the luxury of spending multiple days doing nothing but nature observation, learning, sketching, and writing with a cohort of like-minded fellow journalers . . . and with customized one-on-one feedback and specific skills-tutoring throughout the whole experience.

My bootcamps are suitable for beginners to advanced journalers, as I tailor each person’s experience to their appropriate level and needs. Nurturing, inquisitive, and expansive.

No excuses. Just pure nature journaling growth and mindset.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I secure a space?

    • Once registration is open, there will be a live link on this page to the Bootcamp signup. Typically there will be a registration deposit of around $250-$2000 depending on attendance type.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    • Each Bootcamp will have its own window where you can cancel without penalty (except for a small admin fee). This is dependent on the venue’s own policy. Typically there will be no cancellation within one month of the Bootcamp.

  • Why do you require trip insurance for each participant?

    • This is to ensure you have medical evacuation coverage (nearly all the Bootcamps will be in remote locations) and that your costs are covered if we have to cancel the Bootcamp due to local emergencies or global health crises. We will provide you with a link to a provider.

  • Can I bring a partner who does not nature journal?

    • Yes, we will have (very) limited space for non-journalers; though consider carefully, as we want everyone to enjoy themselves and we find that non-journalers distract attendees from fully immersing in the field arts activities.

  • Can I camp?

    • Some of the Bootcamps will have camping options, others will not. It depends on the venue. Most will have restrictions on the size of the camping unit and will indicate.

  • Do you offer special dietary options?

    • Each venue will be different, depending on their ability to accommodate different needs. Please contact us and explain your needs. Vegetarian will almost always be an option, but vegan and special gluten needs may be harder to accommodate in wilderness settings.

  • Do you support diversity and inclusion?

    • I support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in my life and through all my work. I have completed Bias 101 and Safe Zone training through the University of Arizona. I welcome everyone and look forward to meeting you in a supportive, fun and inclusive environment!
