New Multi-Purpose Perspex Palette-Easel!

I’m really thrilled about this addition to my Field Arts Institute products! This 9x6 clear perspex (plastic) palette-easel works the same as my (now retired) white coroplast palette-easel: attach a metal paint tin to the 1-inch magnetic strip at the top, clip a micro-fiber rag under it, and slide into the back of your journal. It’s held in place by the pressure of the pages (or you can clip it in). Very convenient for quick-sketching and painting on-the-go!

But the clear perspex takes it several major steps forward in function. Here are just a few of the really useful ways you can use it:

Use a dry-erase marker to sketch any kind of grid viewfinder you prefer (Rule of Thirds, Golden Rectangle, Fibonacci Spiral), at any scale you need. Or, sketch a cube in whatever proportions you want to eyeball a 3D map cube (tutorial here!). You can order the palette with or with a dry-erase marker. The new Multi-Purpose Perspex Palette-Easel is now the easel that ships with the Minimalist Paint Kit—yay!

Clip useful tools to the palette: a ruler or cut your own custom viewfinders to help narrow your subject focus.

Are you a toned paper-and-gouache journaler? Clip a piece of your toned paper (tan or grey) to the back of the clear easel, turn it around (magnet to the bottom) and us the clear top for your gouache mixing area—so you’re always getting the right colors for your paper choice.

If you think of any other uses for the Multi-Purpose Perspex Palette-Easel, please send them along!
